Advantages and Disadvantages Eye Lift Surgery

Eyelift or also known as blepharoplasty is a type of plastic surgery that aims to rejuvenate the face, especially eyes. Thus, it creates a younger appearance. By doing eyelift, wrinkles, sagging muscles, or fat under the eye (eye socket), can be removed easily.

Your surgeon will make incisions along the upper or lower eyelid which is generally close to the eyelashes. The skin then is separated from fat and muscle tissue. Excess fat will be removed and each muscle or sagging skin that will be corrected. Afterward, the incision is then closed with stitches.

Eyelift surgery will usually take between one to three hours to complete and can be performed on an outpatient basis, depending on the preferences of patients and their health.

Benefits eyelift is a lot. Unfortunately, eyelift surgery not really work, but the cost is expensive enough. The result of the operation is only temporary. Even with a very expensive operation too, can create risks and complications of surgery and the results are not permanent. Usually the result of the operation can only survive a few years, even in a matter of several months. Therefore, you need second eyelift surgery, third and fourth throughout your life.

There are some potential risks and complications that occur after eyelift surgery, such as:
- Excessive Bleeding under the skin that can lead to blood clot
- Painful swelling
- Infection
- Allergic reactions
- Damage to nerves that can cause permanent numbness and weakness in facial muscles
- Damage to the muscle that causes the eyelids difficult to move
- Difficulty using contact lenses
- Individuals
- Loss of vision

Eyelift surgery is generally not recommended for someone with the following medical conditions:
- High blood pressure
- Impaired blood circulation
- Diabetes
- Glaucoma
- Dry eyes or a lack of tear production
- Thyroid problems

In addition, healing time can vary from one patient with other patients and may require more time than expected. Avoiding smoking and drinking alcohol as well as maintaining a healthy diet can help speed up the healing process.
